The Eagle Awards

Yesterday the final short-list of nominations for the Eagle Awards was released, and Jennifer Wilde is one of the contenders in the Favourite European Comic Book category!

The team is very excited, and we want to thank everyone who nominated us.

Voting is open now in all sections until April 2nd.

The final results will be announced at the Eagle Awards ceremony at London’s MCM Expo on Friday, 25 May 2012.

ICN Awards 2011

ICN Awards Nominations Open

Irish Comic News has initiated its inaugrual ICN awards.

For the next two weeks it will be taking nominations for each category of award, which will be followed by a vote on the short-list.

The winners will be announced on ICN and will recieve web badges to show their victory as well as a printable certificate.

Nominations end on September 30th 2011 for comics that were published in 2011 – except for the HALL OF FAME section.

Jennifer Wilde 1 on the shelves of Sub City Comics

Jennifer Wilde issue 1 is now on sale in SubCity Comics in Dublin!

It will be available in other venues across Ireland by next week – we’ll keep you updated as they roll out across the country.

2D Comic Book ConventionMaura McHugh will be joining Stephen Downey at Derry’s 2-D Comic book Festival this weekend.

Alas Robert Curley can’t make it, but he will be attending SquareBound with Maura on Saturday, 18 June in the Irish Writers’ Centre in Dublin.

On the 11th of June Stephen Downey will be signing copies of his Slaughterman’s Creed comic at Forbidden Planet in Belfast.

Then from 1-3 July Robert will be one of the Guests of Honour at ArcadeCon 2011 in Dublin, along with artist Barry Keegan (The League of Volunteers).

In case you’re hoping to meet any of the Jennifer Wilde team here are the next events we’re attending:

Bristol International Comic & Small Press Expo 2011

Stephen Downey will be at the Bristol International Comic & Small Press Expo in the UK promoting his latest title Slaughterman’s Creed, which he co-created with Cy Dethen.  He’ll be participating in a panel called The Task of Blood: Creating Slaughterman’s Creed at 12pm on Sunday, 15 May at the Mercure Hotel.

It will be hosted by Scott Grandison of Comic Book Outsiders, and it will feature Cy, Vicky Stonebridge (colourist), Nic Wilkinson (letterer) and Stephen chatting about making the book.

Stephen will also be attending the 2-D Comic Book Festival in Derry in Northern Ireland, from 2-4 June.

SquareBoundBoth Robert and I will be attending SquareBound, the one-day comic book event taking place on Saturday, 18 June in the Irish Writers’ Centre in Dublin.

There will be an Atomic Diner panel at the event, which will feature writers and artists from the publisher’s range of titles, such as The League of Volunteers, Róisín Dubh and Jennifer Wilde.

We hope to meet some of you at one of these events!
